I ordered two of these braces and one had a strap break after the first use during a basketball game. This was the first time I had tried McDavid braces, I usually use ASO. Unfortunately, even though the quality of the materials seem to be good, the stitching and the way they are held together is not.

I had a similar brace from another company but this model is much better. Simulates ankle taping. My ankle is bone on bone and I must be careful of twisting or torquing. The McDavid keeps my ankle secure. I am very happy with it.

The Ultralite is a very good brace. The downside is that it's so supportive, I forget I have weak ankles!! Not the braces fault... it does it's job very very well!! I play tennis rather aggressively (Rated ~4.5) and it's a tremendous support. Highly recommended.

We tried the Active Ankle for my daughter. It was too bulky to fit in her volleyball shoe and rubbed on the inside of her ankle bone. I wear the McDavid and suggested that to her. She was sold on it the minute she put it on. We purchased the Ultralight Level 3. It fits comfortably into her shoes and is light weight.
