The Youth Select, Mizuno Baseball Pant, features a built-in sliding short for added coverage and protection, and is designed to accurately fit a young player's body. The Youth Select Baseball Pants feature a tunnel-belt-loop waist (to allow for a custom fit) and a fly front, with extended two-snap closure, for easy use. Designed to play hard, the CBP21 showcases double-knit polyester construction, Double- Knee fabrication and Mizuno's Performance-Plus Padding. An Ankle Length design provides a professional look and feel, while two set in pockets on the back side of these baseball pants, allow for small storage and batting gloves when on the base path.

The pants are good pants but really don't provide any protection for sliding. The protection is basically another layer of cloth on the buttocks which isn't where kids slide. For sliding protection which is a good idea so kids don't develop sore thighs or hip pointers, get sliding shorts. Sliding shorts are skin tight shorts with padding on the side of the sides and hips (where kids do slide). You where the sliding shorts under your baseball pants. Even better many sliding shorts come with a pocket for a cup. But beware, many sliding shorts have almost no padding. Check to make sure the thickness of the padding is thick enough to make a difference.

Great pants! One word of caution: Don't Bleach them! Bleach turns the logo on the rear belt loop PINK. No kidding.

These pants are the best! They are thick, well made and have stood up to the beating of sliding and catching by my boys. The reinforced knees and hips are amazing. My boys pants from last season are still in good shape with minimal wear in the knees (despite the rough wear). Of course we have to buy new pants every season, but these are the first pants that have out lasted the prior year! You will not be sorry with this purchase!

The baseball pants were AWFUL because the material does not wash well - In fact, I am returning the pants. After ONE baseball game, the material absorbed the dirt from the field and the entire pants took on the orangy-brown dirt color. I would not recommend them at all - the built-in sliding pants sounded so wonderful, but they are a mess.
