Hot and Cold Therapy
Provides safe, effective and convenient treatment for injuries
Cold Therapy - Cold is generally applied to acute injuries immediately after trauma. Cold Therapy constricts blood vessels to reduce the swelling, help block pain and promote healing. Compression and elevation are also important in the immediate treatment of acute injuries.
Hot Therapy - Heat is applied to chronic injuries to increase the blood fow and help the body remove and reabsorb cellular by-products. Heat is also soothing and can reduce pain and stiffness. However, heat should never be applied to an acute injury unless under the direction of a sports medicine professional. |
