I expected these to have

I expected these to have a little more weight. They are lightweight not medium.

"Smartwool" Written on Toes

The new version has "Smartwool" written over the toes it's not in the pictures. I would not buy it if I knew about it. If you don't care about it it's about as good as the last iteration but not as good as it was several years ago. Marketing will always defeat quality.

These are my mild winter socks for the last several years.

Socks are very personal. These are my mild winter socks for the last several years. I commute on a bike in the winter in Brooklyn and these Smartwool socks work really well for mildly cold weather and rain, combined with Gore-Tex or similar waterproof shoes. I have more than 10 pairs by now, old and new (heh, I don't have a washing machine, that's why so many). For cold weather I would go for other socks, but in Brooklyn those are good for 90% of the winter.

Going back to Smartwool

I've ordered these Smartwool socks for years. Last pairs didn't last as long, pilled up badly, and seemed to wear thin in the heal too soon. But I'm giving them another try.
