Quality, Versatile Sock

This is a great sock. It’s warm (but not bulky) and form-fitting (but not too tight, though some people with big calves might have issues). I’ve worn it while skiing and also in the board room…literally. It fits with dress shoes, athletic shoes, boots…you name it. I bought 14 pairs and plan to wear them over a lifetime.

Tight Fit

Over several years I bought 30 plus pairs of Darn Tough socks. Either mid-weight or heavy-weight socks in boot or knee high lengths. I love these socks however, I recently bought these LIGHT CUSHION SOCKS and was disappointed in the fit. These fit really tight. Had a heck of a time putting it on! I don't know if these light cushion socks are supposed to fit like this but I feel it would be uncomfortable to wear after a few hours of use.

I ordered the XL size as I have size 12 feet. The feet part fits fine but they are very tight around the ankles and achilles.

Favorite Socks for any activity

These socks are easily the best I have ever owned. I find myself wanting to wear them in nearly every situation. They are always my preferred socks when wearing business formal or business casual attire. However, I now want to wear them even when I go out for long walks or hikes, and even when I am working out. The only reason I don't have more is because they are relatively expensive compared to other socks. They are definitely worth the price though, especially considering the lifetime guarantee. I have not needed to take advantage of the lifetime guarantee yet, so I can't speak as to how those claims are handled.

Darn Tough

First, I've bought nothing but Thorlo Black crew socks for about 10 years or more. I was intrigued by the Darn Tough socks, though, and decided to try a few. I like them a lot - they are comfy and warmer than I thought they'd be (it's getting colder here in Iowa). This style is stretchier at the top than the others I tried - my calves get bigger pretty quickly and these were less tight on me. I would compare them favorably with my Thorlo's and if I buy more Darn Tough, it will be these. I highly recommend them!

Great for Cold Weather

I discovered these 1474 Standard Issue socks by Darn Tough in 2008 and I've been wearing the same 9 pairs for 7 years. The oldest pairs aren't quite as snug as they used to be but they still fit fine all day. I've worn these daily as an automotive technician and as an executive assistant. They are also the sock I reach for when I'm backpacking the Appalachian Trail for 50 miles. I wear a 10 1/2 shoe and the large sock fits perfectly snug to my foot. If you need a cold weather sock for extended periods of time in below freezing weather, try a Darn Tough full cushion sock instead.

Perfect fit

Great service and so far they look like a great pair of socks. I ordered an XL and when I first tried these Darn Tough socks on I thought they would be too large. However, I washed them and they shrank down to a perfect fit. I suggest getting a larger size.

Run tight but not too tight

These Darn Tough socks are as thick as a premium cotton sock so they fit in my work boots and still leave a little wiggle room. They are comfortable all day (12 hours) and wick moisture well. They run tight but not too tight. Overall a great sock that has convinced me to make the switch from cotton.
