If you are like me and have a love of this model and haven't bought some in a while, prepare to be disappointed. These have gone down so much in quality. They are thinner, weaker, and the heel is not thin.
While the picture shows a orange heal cap there is no more orange there and it is how you tell if you have a old (good) pair or the new (bad) kind.
The new version of these socks that I received as replacements do not have an orange heel cup and are not nearly as nice as the first batch I bought several years ago. My first ones never beaded up and the orange parts looked new forever. They did loose wool in the arch which is why I warranted them out. Had I known I would have never sent them back to DT. When I complained to DT about the new version they said they were the same but there is no way. They are now average at best and have chewed through the heel cushion on several pairs of shoes and worn through the sock at the heel. The orange has lost a ton of density. The first ones lasted for years and these haven’t made it six months. So sad!!

These are the best socks I've ever owned. The added cushion provides all day comfort. My size falls right on the transition between large and extra-large; I wear a size 13 shoe but a size 12 work boot. I bought the XL figuring it may shrink a little. It did shrink only slightly and fits comfortably snug after washing. I received a pair of Large as a gift and they also fit but they are quite snug. I prefer the XL. If I pull too much on the XL, I can pull the heal of the sock past my heal. I pull it only to where it should be, and it stays comfortably all day without bunching. The L also stays where it should, but the cushion feels stretched a little thinner. Still comfortable though.
